In a post on September 15, a Reddit user named “SentuBill” claimed that the ChatGPT large language model (LLM) started a conversation by asking him how his first day of school was going.
Based on the conversation shared by the user, ChatGPT was able to deduce that it was his first day of school from previous interactions the user had with the program. The large language model also mentioned that these capabilities were part of a new upgrade.

The ChatGPT Strawberry Upgrade
On September 13, 2024, OpenAI introduced a preview upgrade of highly-anticipated smarter models to a select group of users. This upgrade will enable ChatGPT to reason and have the ability to “think before responding.”
The response times of the new model will range from 10-20 seconds and it will be able to search the internet and conduct independent research. These new capabilities could transition ChatGPT from a mere novelty to a valuable tool with practical applications.
Originally scheduled for release in November 2024, sources suggest that the ChatGPT upgrade may be launched sooner than anticipated. OpenAI has also adjusted its model naming conventions, indicating a significant leap forward from previous versions by reverting to version one on the new LLM.

OpenAI’s products have experienced a surge in popularity since April 2024, attracting over 1 million users. By April 2024, the company’s products, including ChatGPT premium subscriptions and access to ChatGPT Enterprise, had around 600,000 subscribers.
The makers of ChatGPT are considering a significant price increase for upcoming models, with the possibility of introducing high-end subscription plans costing over $2,000 per month.
